a confidence booster

"I need to look presentable tomorrow," said me last night.

Some days, even if I am expecting company, I don't care what I look like. I have clothes on that I call "lounge wear" that consists of either pajamas or yoga pants and a tee shirt. No makeup. No earrings.

Well, today, I put together a casual outfit that's perfect for giving me a little boost of confidence,which is something I've noticed I've been lacking lately. I think most of us go through this at times where we talk "fat talk" about ourselves {i am guilty as charged} and make jokes about ourselves OR we hear from others hurtful, negative things about our size and appearance.

"I have a donut." "do you want a donut for your donut?"
"I am round and short like a pumpkin".

" I am sorry, I have to tell you, you have a big butt."

Last night before I fell asleep, I was thinking how much I've been putting myself down. WHY?! Why do I do that to myself? I need to love myself, now, as I am, whole-heartedely as much as I love others. Would I say the things I say to myself to my mom, friends or a young girl? Absolutely not!

Here's to snapping out of this negative mind-set and focusing on my positive qualities like being compassionate and patient (inwardly) and liking my eyes and hands (outwardly). And since it's November now with Thanksgiving and all, I'll name a few things I am thankful for about myself:

I am thankful for the upper body movements I have that allow me to write, type, create, apply makeup, eat and drink for myself.

I am thankful that my hair has continued to grow in my bald patches.

I am thankful that I am a patient person and that God has helped me to grow more in patience, understanding and compassion.

I am thankful for my sound, creative mind and my quirky sense of humor.

tuesday top 10: facts about me

For the first time, I am linking up with Kate of Life as I know it for Tuesday Top 10! It's a fun, simple link-up that happens every week. Sometimes I don't know what to blog about or don't have shmancy fashion pics on hand, so this is perfect for a day where I am in lounge wear and had six hours of sleep last night.

Today's topic is 10 facts about you...so let's get to it!

1. I am eating sunflower seeds as I type this
2. I have way more lip products than necessary
3. I prefer working alone when crafting but I wouldn't mind the company
4. I love reading at night time, snuggled in my bed
5. My voice can be loud and carries like my dad's
6. I have a fear of smelling, so deodorant is a MUST er'day!
7. I am very patient. I don't mind waiting 20 minutes in a line. Take me black friday shopping. lol.
8. I prefer the mountains/meadows/farms over the beach.
9. I like to keep my fingernails and toenails short!
10. I haven't been on a real date in 6 years!

I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am really honest and sometimes that gets me into trouble. Even being a loud person can get me into trouble. Maybe it's my sarcasm? I worry about what others think of me, especially my closest friends and family, but I try not to, usually in a fail. I always use two tissues at night time. When driving my wheelchair, I make wide turns. If I had millions of dollars, I would have a farm to foster and take care of rescued cats, dogs, llamas and horses. If I can help it, I don't run over ants, grasshoppers or spiders. My closet is literally called "the archives" because I own a bunch of filled photo albums, photo boxes and boxes with cards & letters from past years. My toes remind me of fat little sausage smokies. Those are good btw.

I believe in happiness. I believe in serving others and being kind. I believe in letting a few sprinkles shower you in the rain. I believe in frozen yogurt. I believe that a handwritten or typed letter is better than a text message or tweet. I believe that music can move your spirit. I believe that laughter makes life bearable in difficult times. Laughter is a form of medicine. I believe in love. that it's forever.

I believe in couponing. It's time consuming but it really does save me money. I believe in God and His son Jesus Christ. I believe in hope. Like Anne Frank, I see the best in people and believe they are really good at heart. Collecting quotes inspire me. Witnessing small, generous acts inspire me. Witnessing a loving couple show affection gives me hope. Making lists makes me feel productive. I believe in YOU.

J: January or July? January because it's not 111 and it's my birthday month along with 2 of my siblings, my mom, aunt, cousins, the list goes on.

K: Kids? I love kids despite them sometimes driving me crazy. I hope to be a mom someday. they'll def give me more opportunities to practice being patient!

M: Marriage date? um, something that my husband and I would enjoy doing...a walk on a nature trail, picnic, bowling, going out to dinner?

N: Number of brothers/sisters? one sister and 2 brothers! I love them so much.

P: Phobias/Fears? burning to death. scary movies(they scar my soul) lol. tarantulas the size of my hand jumping on me.

R: Reasons to smile? getting a letter in the mail. brushing my teeth. hummingbirds. feeling the sun on my skin on a cool, brisk day. spending time with family and friends.

S: Season of choice? fall! I love autumn time to be outside, crisp air, leaves changing color, all things pumpkin, farmers markets and artsy festivals.
