Sunday Style

I think I have a problem, but maybe it's more of a skill that I bargain shop! Yes! Let's call is a skill.

I went out with my roommate to the mall on saturday. She had an appointment to get her hair cut, but we had extra time to browse around beforehand, which we did in JCPenney's.  As I was following the pathway, this skirt just jumped out at me as I kept driving forward, then I drove back around to it just to see what the price was...$30. Psh, yeh right. There's no way I am paying thirty bucks for a skirt. So I just kept driving forward looking around and going with my friends.

We do our business at the mall and go where everyone wanted to go. We go back through JCPenney's as that was where our transportation was picking us up and I see that skirt again. I notice there is a sign above the rack that said it was 50% between 9am-1pm and it was 12:45! what?! Omg, I have to get it!! How did I not see this before!? I wore it to church the very next day.

So behold. What I call, the watercolor pencil skirt.

Sunday Style

Last week I did a little retail therapy with amanda and that's when we wandered into New York & Company, where I found this black and white dress. It was a last minute purchase, since I spotted the beauty at the corner of my left eye as time was running out.

I ventured to the rack and noticed the lovely 50% off sign, but I wasn't sure if that applied to this dress. So, Amanda picked one out for me and I took it to the register to ask the sales associate if that particular dress was 50% off and it was so, so I was like, "ok great. I am taking it!"

This dress is mod and reminds me of the 60's. I thought it'd be perfect for church. Sofia and Katie did my hair with extra volume and you couldn't tell, but I wore light blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick. I definitely felt like I could have been in Mad Men.

I got lots of compliments on the frock and it was comfortable to wear. I styled it with my bright pink one dollar earrings from Downeast Basics and my black crossbody purse from Forever21. And because Sunday morning was a bit on the cold side, I had to wear my furry boots (those don't count).

sunday style

Wow guys! what a weekend! My days have been filled to the brim since thursday! So I said I was going to make pumpkin muffins with my mom on saturday, but that didn't happen because I just ran out of time...so probably sometime this month I'll be baking those and another treat and THEN i will share pictures and a recipe.

So Sunday, I buckled down and went to church even though I was quite tired from the night before. I went to some friend's halloween party saturday. Oh it was so fun and I will totally write about that event on Thursday..what better day than on Halloween!

Amanda and I sort of matched again and we didn't even plan it! Look at us fresh faced beauties!

Our shirts both have lace sleeves! love that!
And then in Sunday school, just being a little silly :)

Sunday evening, about an hour after I got home from church, I had a few friends come over. Arwa was in town for work and her sister Wa & her bf Tum live here in the valley and they three came to visit me. I haven't seen Wa & Tum in six years! It was SO nice to visit with them for a few hours. They brought me dinner from Rubio's and a few other treats. Me, Arwa and Wa used to hang out all the time. Us girls met in college in around 2002. I will always cherish their friendship! I missed them all.

sunday style + you matter

Happy Tuesday everyone! I am surprise I am not taking a nap right now. My sleep patterns have continued to be worse than normal, and last night, well I was up all night...again. No boo hoo's here though!

I am happy to be blogging today! I am happy because I've been feeling like God has my back and He knows what I need. It sure does feel good to feel like you belong, that you matter, and YOU, my reader, DO matter! Wherever you are in the world or country, believe that :) Often times, we can feel insecure and unsure of ourselves. We sometimes wonder, will they like me? will they care what I have to say? like if you are going up to talk in front of a group of people. Really, us bloggers, for one, are putting ourselves out there. Going up in front of the "class" to inform others and share our opinions and thoughts. We make ourselves vulnerable and that can be scary. Someone wise told me this year that, "we are all scared." So, essentially, we are all in the same boat, so try not to fret and just show up, go up and put forth your best effort and someone out there will connect with you and like you as you will be a blessing in their lives.

So here we are for another installment of Sunday Style and this time, with Miss Amanda!

my legs are so white!

Has there been a time recently that you felt inadequate? Or that someone just dismissed you? How do you stay confident?

sunday style + trust in the Lord

Howdy hey!

We've got another installment of sunday style with miss amanda. We totally didn't plan our outfits, but we kinda matched! I can say that I like dressing up a bit for church. It's just fun. And it's even more fun to have a friend to do style posts with!

So one of the themes in my life, in general, these past few days has been trust. to trust in the Lord.

I know that it can be difficult to not worry or stress about things. I know that it seems nearly impossible to try to remain calm [hello! I get anxiety often] and give complete surrender to the Lord, but I know that when we do, he grants us his peace. Life is no doubt, full of trials and hardships. No one ever said life would be easy. Thankfully, for me, my faith in God has allowed me to endure such hardships but also to come out on top, brighter & stronger than before, and for sure, closer to God.

Here some scriptures that I like that remind me to trust in the Lord. Sure, I've heard or read of the following often, but I ask myself, how often have i really pondered and prayed over these words?

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.---psalms 118:8

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.---proverbs 3:5

But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.---psalms 73:28

I think too, that as we put our trust in God, one, we are practicing our faith and second, we are relying on Him. And as we draw near to Him, he draws near to us.

sunday style

I've got a new friend to be featured on sunday style! Welcome, Amanda! I am excited to debut her first outfit appearance on the blog!

She took a photo on her phone and posted it to instagram, i think, then onto facebook and titled the photo: "Yeah...we are adorable and we know it."
oops, my bra strap is showing!

hahaha yehhhhhh...
Amanda was sparkling this past sunday. She had such a cute outfit of earth tones with perfect accessories to match. Her skirt is sassy and something I'd totally wear.

I wore a new dress-that-has-been-hanging-in-my-closet-for-months. I got it back in the springtime when E-shakti was giving coupon codes to some of my favorite bloggers and us readers got to use those codes for lots of savings! That is the only i could afford one of their retro beauties!

I love having wonderful friends and being able to share secrets (& keep them) and talk about all things girly!
I guess I shoulda wrote down her outfit details. next time.

sunday style

Howdy howdy! How's everyone's week going so far?

My week is flying by! I had part 2 of an ultrasound (pelvic) done yesterday morning (abdominals last friday). I think I've mentioned it here before, but I've been getting waves of sharp pain on my lower right abdominal area...and there are alot of organs in that area, so we are trying to pinpoint the cause of this pain. I am thankful it doesn't happen everyday. My last 'attack' was last wednesday night. I have an appointment with the gastroenterologist on Thursday. That'll be the first time ever in my life that I am seeing this kind of specialist. I just want answers and figure out what's going on.

I am taking a day off from blogtember, to bring you  another installment of Sunday Style...on a tuesday :) Paco was able to come with me to church this past sunday, so you know we took photos!

Paco's tie is pretty rad. The colors almost matched my dress and we didn't even plan our outfits! I love being able to attend and so glad I got to meet a new girl who I get to see tomorrow in person. yay for new friends!

sunday style + over the weekend

Oh hi there.
How was your labor day weekend?
Mine was jam packed with shopping, church, reading, more shopping & movies on abcfamily (The Breakfast Club and A Walk to Remember, anyone?)! Though I will have you know that I didn't spend a whole lot! yay! Oh and I got my eyebrows threaded on saturday too. It's not that painful at all. I don't have bushy eyebrows, but I wanted to clean them up and I can tell a difference, but my caregiver said laughing that she couldn't tell the difference. I got to spend time with my mom too. We made a stop at Paradise and got smoothies and browsed around a few stores. I even ran into a girl from church too. What a fun surprise. Although  Forever21 was having an additional 50% off their sale items, I didn't find anything I loved and absolutely had to have. Bummer. Maybe my mom was right that I just wasn't in a total shopping mood?

For Church this past sunday, since Paco couldn't make it, James went with me. I am so thankful to him for stepping out of his comfort zone and coming with me just so that I could be at church. I wore my new skirt from Downeast Basics that I got for around $9 on saturday {i went to find the receipt to double check and just remember that i threw it away yesterday}! James sported his new dress shoes. It was cute to see him all dressed up since he normally doesn't dress up like this...like,ever.

When we were leaving, Sofia said it looked like we were going to someone's wedding! I felt snazzy and awesome and James looked handsome.

Plus, you still have time to enter the group giveaway if you haven't already!
